Agate Slice Beads

Agate slices are thin, flat cross-sections cut from agate nodules. Each slice reveals the stone's natural concentric bands, often with translucent edges that catch the light. These beads are prized for their organic, earthy aesthetic and one-of-a-kind patterns.

Agate forms in cavities within volcanic rock, where silica-rich water deposits layer after layer of microcrystalline quartz over millions of years. When these nodules are sliced perpendicular to the banding, the result is a flat disc that showcases the stone's internal structure. The bands vary in color and thickness depending on trace minerals present during formation.

Agate has long been associated with balance, grounding, and protection. Its layered bands are thought to represent stability and the slow, steady passage of time. Many cultures have used agate as a talisman for courage and emotional strength.

Agate is a durable stone (hardness 6.5–7 on Mohs scale), but slices can be fragile due to their thinness. Avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and sudden temperature changes. Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth and store separately to prevent scratches.
