Purple Chalcedony

Purple Chalcedony, also known as Lavender Chalcedony, is a variety of chalcedony quartz prized for its soft violet hues and subtle translucency. Mined primarily in Madagascar, Turkey, and the United States, this gemstone forms in volcanic cavities over millions of years. Its calming color and smooth texture make it a favorite for fine beadwork and minimalist jewelry.

Purple Chalcedony forms when silica-rich fluids fill cavities in volcanic rock, crystallizing into microcrystalline quartz over millions of years. Trace amounts of manganese and other minerals give it the delicate lavender color. The stone is typically found in nodular or botryoidal masses, and its translucency ranges from nearly transparent to opaque.

Purple Chalcedony is associated with tranquility, emotional balance, and spiritual growth. It is often used in meditation practices to promote inner peace and clarity. Historically, chalcedony was believed to foster goodwill and eloquence, while the purple variety is linked to the crown chakra, encouraging wisdom and calm communication.

Purple Chalcedony has a Mohs hardness of 6.5–7, making it durable for daily wear but still susceptible to scratches. Clean gently with warm water and a soft cloth; avoid ultrasonic cleaners, harsh chemicals, and prolonged sun exposure, which may fade its color. Store separately to prevent scratching.
